The Gravity Grand Prix is Cookham Dean’s most exhilarating tradition - an annual downhill race where speed, creativity, and pure gravity collide in spectacular fashion! Since 2007, daredevil racers have strapped into homemade karts, braved the slopes, and entertained a cheering crowd of thrill-seekers in their thousands.
During 18 fantastic years, we've raised over an incredible £250,000 for Thames Valley Air Ambulance and other local causes - all while having an absolute blast! This is more than just a race; it’s a full-on festival of fun, packed with laughter, adrenaline, and some of the wackiest, most ingenious karts you’ll ever see. Think rocket ships, castles, or even a rolling bathtub - every creation adds to the magic!
Last year's event on Sunday, 14th September 2025, was our 18th run, keeping the tradition alive (with just one break in 2020, thanks to Covid-19). Thinking about joining the madness in 2026? Stop thinking and start building! Check out the Information Pack page on this website to get started. The exhilaration of building your own kart is matched only by the adrenaline rush of speeding down the track, with the roar of the crowd echoing all around you.
So what are you waiting for? Dive into the website, see what’s in store, and get ready for an unforgettable ride!
